The Department of Science and Technology-10 will celebrate the 2022 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) sa Amihanang Mindanao with the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan”.
This much awaited event is open to the general public for free on October 25-30, 2022 at the Atrium, Limketkai Center.
Offering a combination of physical and virtual activities, attendees can explore the science and technological innovations in region 10 for six (6) days.
This year’s celebration marks the return of physical exhibitions since the pandemic in 2020. The event will feature exhibits, investment forums, technology demonstrations, awarding of stakeholders, and scientific meetings.
The DOST Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosks or STARBOOKS Quiz for High School Level is a new addition to this year’s event. This will be participated in by the top 10 most active STARBOOKS sites in Region 10.
The highlight of the event is the exhibit at the Limketkai Atrium Center, which is designed for visitors to experience Smart Agriculture Technologies, Food Technologies, and Disaster Resilience Technologies. Aside from on-site exhibits, patrons can also experience the virtual exhibits.
A Mobile Planetarium will also be set up for students, children, and the general public. The mobile planetarium experience includes a lecture on the size and content of the observed universe, its creation, history, and possible future, and the development of the solar system as well as an interesting virtual stargazing experience just like one is traveling through our solar system and beyond. This is free to all on a first-come first serve basis.
The Science Community in the country celebrates the NSTW every year as mandated under Proclamation No. 780 of 2019 every last week of November to focus regional and national attention to the contributions of Science and Technology to national development.
This year, the culmination of the NSTW will happen on November 23-27, 2022 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City. This is also an opportune time to recognize outstanding accomplishments and personalities in the field of science and technology.
