Grab Philippines introduces its digital mobility solutions in General Santos City with the official launch of GrabTaxi last June 24, 2024.
The leading super app supports and uplifts the taxi sector in the city by enhancing safety, reliability, and fare transparency for passengers, championing an elevated commuting experience for the citizens of GenSan.
Passengers from the north of Nopol and the eastern portion of Buayan, extending all the way down to Tambler, can now effortlessly book a GrabTaxi ride through the Grab app.
“Grab Philippines is proud to partner with the City of General Santos in introducing a digital and more efficient means of hailing a taxi for both locals and tourists,” CJ Lacsican, Grab Philippines Head of Cities Operations, said during the joint announcement between Grab and city officials held at Avior Hotel.
As the pioneering four-wheel digital ride-hailing service in the city, GrabTaxi boasts an extensive range of technological features designed to enhance the safety and convenience of GenSan commuters. Key among these features is the ‘Share Your Ride’ function, which enables passengers to share a live tracking link of their journey with their loved ones. Additionally, the ‘Emergency SOS Button’ provides passengers with a quick and easy way to connect with law enforcement should the need arise.
“By connecting the GenSan taxi network to the Grab ecosystem, we are bringing our top-notch safety standards and technology to the commuters of General Santos,” Lacsican said, adding that Grab’s expansion into the city is “a significant step towards modernizing the city’s transportation sector and the overall dawn of digital mobility in General Santos.” Lacsican also highlighted that through digital solutions like GrabTaxi, GenSan taxi drivers and operators effectively expand their earnings and productivity capacity – supplementing their income from traditional street-hail rides.
Furthermore, GrabTaxi also ensures fair and transparent pricing through upfront fares, which enables passengers to see the total cost for their ride upon booking; and fare breakdown, which shows passengers information on how the final price was calculated, detailing components like base fare, distance covered, time taken, and any other fees like toll fees or discounts applied.
Mayor Lorelei Pacquiao welcomed the entry of GrabTaxi into General Santos and expressed optimism on the new partnership with Grab, which she called an important milestone on the city’s journey towards progress. Through a special message, she pointed out that Grab’s arrival does not only expand the transportation options for its citizens but also enhance the city’s reputation as a center of economic opportunity.
The Mayor underscored Grab’s innovative technology, which she said, aligns perfectly with her administration’s vision of creating a vibrant and connected community for all.
“Sama-sama, susulong tayo nang may positibong determinasyon, na tinitiyak na ang General Santos City ay mananatiling isang masigla at konektadong komunidad para sa lahat,” she added.
In addition to Grab’s steadfast commitment to safety and reliability for taxi passengers, drivers, and operators, Lacsican said Grab is looking forward to making an immediate and lasting contribution to the local economy, as it had been doing in the other provinces where it has a presence both in the ride-hailing and in the food delivery infrastructure.
Aside from the convenience and efficiency provided by the super app, GrabTaxi customers will also benefit from Grab’s upfront and transparent pricing and all the safety features of a GrabCar.
