The whole country of the Philippines is under Community Quarantine on each local government unit and some are under Enhanced Community Quarantine like the National Capital Region. But there are still so many people not following the protocol of Social Distancing to avoid transmission of this coronavirus crisis (COVID-19) we are facing. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the States, individuals are to stay at least six feet apart from each other to reduce their risk of contracting COVID-19.
The World Health Organization (WHO) is now discouraging the use of the phrase ‘social distancing’. The organization urges people to use the phrase ‘physical distancing’ instead to provide a clear understanding that the governments’ directives to stay home amid the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) outbreak is not about breaking social contacts with family and friends but about keeping a physical distance to ensure the disease doesn’t spread.
Filipinos love socializing so a better phrase would be “physical distancing” rather than “social distancing” to be understood easily by most Pinoys who are still lounging everywhere. Let’s use the Internet to interact with friends and loved ones so we will not be bored and still be productive at the same time.
Remember, we cannot get through this crisis alone. We need each other with the support of the government and the front liners like the doctors, nurses, police among others. Let’s cooperate and fight this invisible enemy.
