Koronadal and General Santos to be powered by KonekTayo WiFi

December 10, 2020 By Mike A. Leave a Comment

Globe has officially launched new partnerships with the LGUs of General Santos City and Koronadal City to provide affordable internet access to residents and communities via KonekTayo WiFi.

Formerly known as KapitWiFi, KonekTayo WiFi is a fast and secure community WiFi service that aims to provide households with affordable internet. Customers simply need to connect to the KonekTayo WiFi Hotspot, purchase a package, and surf all day. KonekTayo WiFi is part of Globe’s continuous efforts to make the internet accessible to Filipinos, especially during this time. Together with partner communities, Globe is able to provide equal opportunities and affordable connectivity services for online learning, small online businesses, work-from-home, and critical communication needs, as well as push acceleration of digital transformation across various LGUs. This has been well underway this year and is targeted to reach more communities in 2021.

“As ICTs and connectivity have become essential in community building and progression, this partnership with Globe Telecom and KonekTayo WiFi enables us to break down barriers and open a new world of opportunities for our constituents here in General Santos,” said General Santos City Mayor, Ronnel Rivera.

“With KonekTayo WiFi’s affordable internet service and high-speed networks, there is now accessible, direct, and reliable access to education, health, and livelihood for our communities in Koronadal City. We are grateful to Globe for making this happen,” said Koronadal City Mayor, Eliordo U. Ogena.

Globe President and CEO Ernest Cu said, “We are pleased to come up with innovations like the KonekTayo WiFi that empowers students and communities in areas that need connectivity most. We thank our partner LGUs for allowing us to provide this essential service that is vital for education, work and livelihood.”

With the new partnership, Globe will power the following areas with its KonekTayo WiFi services:

General Santos City

  • Barangay Calumpang
  • Barangay Lagao
  • Barangay Bula
  • Barangay Labangal
  • Barangay City Heights
  • Barangay Mabuhay
  • Barangay San Isidro

Koronadal City

  • Gen. Paulino Santos
  • Barangay San Isidro
  • Barangay Zone 3
  • Barangay Zone 4

The company strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UNSDG No. 9 which highlights the roles of infrastructure and innovation as crucial drivers of economic growth and development. Globe is committed to upholding the 10 United Nations Global Compact principles and 10 UN SDGs. For more information, visit www.globe.com.ph.
